Used cleaning cloths may carry soil, chemicals, and biological contamination into a vehicle or laundry room. A bag that leaks onto clean stock can undo the whole separation system. The laundry handoff should identify the contamination category and required processing without anyone shaking cloths or sorting unknown contents by hand.
Use the controls
Place used textiles in the designated closed or covered transport container. Follow special labeling and handling procedures when blood contamination is present. Do not reach into bags, shake contaminated textiles, or mix them with personal laundry. Use the specified PPE and washing procedure, including product compatibility and machine loading limits. Laundry chemicals and disinfectants must not be combined by guesswork to make the load stronger.
Work within the safe plan
Keep clean textiles protected through drying, folding, storage, and delivery. Clean the transport container under the approved procedure before it returns to clean service, or maintain separate containers. If the washing process fails or contamination is uncertain, isolate the load and ask the supervisor to determine reprocessing. Today trace a single restroom cloth from use through collection, washing, and return to the cart. Identify each point where an open bag, shared shelf, or unwashed hand could contaminate the clean load and assign a practical correction.
Discuss with the crew
A damp bag of used cloths is placed on top of packaged clean mops.
