Teach e-Manifest Follow-Through

Environmental Training Managers · 7 minutes · English · Continental Environmental Training
Key message: Track a shipment beyond departure and handle missing or incorrect records.

Understand the training decision

Focus: Waste Shipping.

The waste task does not end when the truck leaves. A shipment record needs follow through to receipt, discrepancies, corrections, and required recordkeeping. Electronic systems make information easier to access, but a login does not prove that someone checks the result. The training manager should identify an accountable owner and a backup.

Teach the controls and responsibilities

Walk through the approved shipment tracking procedure using a fictional record. Identify how the team locates the receiving record, recognizes a discrepancy, and escalates missing information under applicable requirements. Use current EPA and state instructions; proposed changes should not be taught as final requirements. Keep account permissions appropriate to each employee role and do not share credentials during training.

Verify learning and respond to gaps

Give learners a scenario where the destination information differs from the expected shipment. Ask them to preserve the evidence, contact the authorized reviewer, and follow the correction process. Managers should assess whether the tracking log shows a real review and resolution. A row that says shipped is incomplete when follow through remains outstanding. Finish by assigning a learner a missing receiving record and another a quantity discrepancy. Each explains the escalation route and how resolution is recorded. Use the current site procedure for any applicable timing. Managers should verify that the backup can access necessary records without sharing credentials or relying on the primary owner personal inbox.

Discuss with the team

A tracking spreadsheet marks a shipment complete solely because a pickup receipt exists.
